Osaka Prefecture University Provides the “meaQs” Online Learning Support System for Other Universities and Organizations Free of Charge (for a Limited Time)

LastUpDate: April 30, 2020

Osaka Prefecture University has decided to provide the “meaQs” (“meanings well up from the Question sharing”) online learning support system, which was developed largely by the faculty of Osaka Prefecture University, free of charge for educational organizations that include other universities.

The meaQs system, a class support tool for adding proactive/interactive deep learning to a lecture-style class, is the outcome of our project aimed at improving the university education method. It was selected for the Acceleration Program for University Education Rebuilding (project duration: FY2014 to FY2018) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in FY2014. A key feature of the meaQs is to create a collaborative learning environment in which students make and share questions about the content of the class on the web to check their own understanding interactively.

While measures are being instituted to prevent the spread of COVID-19, each educational organization is struggling with a variety of challenges, such as how it should pursue online learning and how it should create a grading system for such purpose. To address this situation, we will provide the system for free of charge until February 28, 2021.
