The Second Joint Symposium on Advanced Mechanical Science & Technology was held from November 28 to December 1 at Conference hall, Nakamozu Campus, Osaka Prefecture University. This symposium aims to deepen mutual understanding and research exchange by meetings of research institutes in Asian countries with research achievements in mechanical engineering and other engineering and science fields. There were total 220 people attending, including 15 people from Fuzhou University, China, and 13 people from National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan. Both universities have academic exchange agreements with OPU.

This symposium had 7 sessions divided by themes related to mechanical engineering, and there were 53 presentations including keynote lectures and poster session. Each presentation caused a really active discussion.

On November 30, the professors and students from Fuzhou University and National Taiwan Ocean University visited Sanjo factory of Shimadzu Corporation and Shimadzu foundation memorial hall. They saw the state-of-the-art technology, and learned history of manufacturing technology. They also visited laboratories in Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Marine system Engineering, OPU on December 1.

This symposium was succeeded in the term of academic exchange, and helped make better trusting relationships among 3 universities. The next joint symposium will be held in Taiwan after 2020.
