Message from the President

Masahiro Tatsumisago, President of OPU

Osaka Prefecture University has endorsed and supported interdisciplinary research that contributes to the development of a sustainable society since long before the SDGs were set as global goals. Our more than 50 research facilities, which transcend the boundaries between graduate schools, are “Research Centers for the 21st Century” that drive progress toward the achievement of the SDGs and cover all 17 goals. We have an exceptional reputation for our efforts in preserving the global environment, stemming from the environmental engineering and environmental chemistry courses that we established more than 40 years ago, and those initiatives have earned OPU a place among the top 100 universities in the world for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2021. Furthermore, the OPU University Sustainability Report, which OPU students created around 10 years ago and continue to compile annually, demonstrates their high level of awareness of environmental problems and SDGs. By fusing together these strengths and actively working on SDGs, OPU will continue to help build a sustainable future in which no one is left behind.
