テニュアトラック教員紹介My personal goal is to build strong research ties between Japan and the United States. I also wish to support young researchers in physics, especially women. The broad focus of my research includes resonance phenomena and dynamics in various physical settings of low-dimensional open quantum systems, including nanowire superlattices, waveguides, and waveguide arrays. An open quantum system can be understood as representing the interaction between discretized energy levels (such as the electron levels in an atom) and an energy continuum, which represents an environmental influence on the discrete system. One important usage of open quantum systems is in the description of resonance phenomena, which appear everywhere in nature from simple electric circuits to astronomical phenomena. In simple terms, a resonance represents a system's natural oscillation frequency. In open quantum systems, the resonance is associated with exponential decay (such as the decay of radioactive nuclei). In my studies on nanowires I demonstrated the existence of bound states in continuum for certain geometries. These are resonance states with vanishing width that, counter-intuitively, sit directly in the energy continuum. These bound states have recently been experimentally detected in a geometry related to my own study. In another study, I demonstrated the influence of bound states on non-exponential decay. It has been known that non-exponential decay should exist in open quantum systems for decades, due to the influence of the continuum threshold. However, the effect is usually very small in comparison to the more familiar exponential decay such that it is difficult to detect. I have demonstrated that a bound state appearing near the continuum edge should dramatically enhance the effect, rendering it much easier to study experimentally.【略 歴】 平成19年5月、博士(Physics)取得(University of Texas at Austin)。Postdoctoral Researcher, Université Pierre et Marie Curie(France)、Visiting Scientist, University of Copenhagen、CQIQC Prize Postdoctoral Fellowship, University of Toronto(Canada)、Visiting Scientist, Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems(Germany)、Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Toronto(Canada)、東京大学生産技術研究所 特別研究員を経て、平成26年4月、大阪府立大学大学院理学系研究科テニュアトラック助教に着任。テニュアトラック教員としての抱負第1メンターより田中 智 理学系研究科 教授研究内容H26年度採用Resonance phenomena and dynamical characteristicsof open quantum systems26
