March 2012 Features “Farewell Season”
Students filled the room with laughter and excitement – it’s the farewell party for 17 international students who are going to complete their studies in Japan and return to their home countries by the end of March 2012.
More than 40 international and Japanese students and university staff participated in the party hosted by the Organization for International and Scientific Exchange, and it provided a good opportunity for the students to get together and share their memories and experiences of their life at OPU.
“Looking back at the last year at OPU, it has not been easy for me to get used to a different way of life and people’s thinking. Meeting and associating with people from different backgrounds has given me previous experiences. I will miss the friends I’ve made at OPU, and will never forget the memories I share with them,” says Park Byungjun from Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Korea.
During the party, the international exchange students who would soon leave Japan received message cards from other students – some with tears in their eyes.
“It was surely an exciting and heartwarming party. We also filled a message board in the room with messages and snapshots taken at the party,” said a staff member from the International Office.
OPU is currently in partnership with more than 100 overseas universities and institutions in 28 countries, promoting academic collaboration through various activities such as student exchange programs. OPU is continuingly committed to supporting international students and expanding a global network among students.
