Friendship Festival

Now in its 46th year, this festival is organized annually to nurture friendship and solidarity among new students. In both the Nakamozu and Habikino Campuses, new and veteran students join forces in the festival committee, and motivate the various clubs and fraternities to take part. Events include concerts, dance parties, cultural festivals and sports competitions etc. We hope as many people as possible will take part and enjoy themselves.

Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City Universities’ Joint Sports Competition

A regular fixture for Osaka Prefecture University and Osaka City University. This has the shortest history of the three regular sporting events our university takes part in, it is a perfect opportunity for students from the campuses on each side of the Yamato River to make friends through sport. Now in its 32nd year, the event is held in OsakaCity University.

Osaka Prefecture and Tokyo Metropolitan Universities’ Joint Sports Competition

This regular sporting fixture between the main public universities in Tokyo and Osaka was established in 1953, making it the oldest of all the fixtures in which our university takes part. Around 1000 students take part in a wide range of sporting events. Our university maintained a healthy lead to 2006, having won 30 times and lost 21 times (2 competitions ended in a draw and one was cancelled), but recently the two teams are on a more equal footing givingthe home team an advantage each time. This year, the 55th tournament will be held in Tokyo.

Autumn Campus Festival (Shirasagi Festival)

All students and academic staff take part in this festival in early November. Now in its 59th year, this is the oldest event in the university. Catering for all tastes, the event is popular with students, members of staff and people from the local community. It is a perfect opportunity for exchange with local residents.

Six Kansai Public Universities’ Joint Sports Competition

A regular feature between the public universities in Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures. Originally six universities took part in the tournament but due to various elimination and consolidation plans over the years there are now only three participating universities, one from each prefecture. Our university has a proud record of 24 male, 15 female and 26 overall victories in the tournament (to last year). Now in its 38th year, this year’s tournament is to be held in our university.
