School of Life and Environmental Sciences

Introduction

Developing a Center of Cutting-edge Bioscience Understanding and the Practical Use of Biological Phenomena

The department of “Agricultural Science” has been revived as the department of “Life and Environmental Sciences.” This new department has been launched to pursue research and education in the wide-ranging field of life and environmental sciences—a field that builds on and extends the traditional concepts of agricultural science. In this department, great importance is attached to cutting-edge bioscience and related fields are incorporated to gain a wider perspective. Researchers in our department strive to understand a diverse range of biological phenomena in order to achieve practical applications. To this end, basic education is provided in the fields of bioscience, biotechnology, and preservation of earth’s environment, which is essential for all forms of life. We train scientists in order to enable them to contribute to industry, academia, and government in the abovementioned fields.
