Special Guest Professor Program 2015:Dr. Janice Y. Uchida (University of Hawaii at Manoa)

Osaka Prefecture University invites many leading researchers and educators as Guest Professors throughout the year. Each invited professor spends approximately one month at OPU to conduct special lectures, seminars, and individual discussions with faculty and students. The Guest Professor Program aims to stimulate students’ intellectual growth, to provide firsthand access to the finest world-class research, and to build tighter relations between OPU and leading universities around the world.
Our seventh guest in 2015 is Dr. Janice Y. Uchida from Department of Plant Environment Protection Sciences, University of Hawaii at Manoa, U.S.A. Dr. Uchida is one of the most eminent researchers who specialize in diseases of orchids and tropical plants. And she also has many years of teaching experiences in the field of Plant Pathology as well as microbes, insects and seaweed, and her program is focused on spread environmental protection.
During her stay from November 10 to November 30, she gave lectures and seminars for the students of the Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, as well as for the undergraduate students, together with many opportunities of discussion with them. Also she attended Role-Model Cafe organized by Center for Women in Research of OPU as a guest speaker.
